The Port of Los Angeles Historical Photo Collection includes thousands of images of Los Angeles Harbor from the 1890s through present day. These images document a wide variety of harbor history, including Port operations, events, construction, harbor communities, fishing, shipping, and cargo handling. Some original forms of photography include nitrate, acetate, polyester and glass plate negatives, lantern slides, projection slides, paper prints, and digital images––now digitized and available in electronic format.
The Los Angeles Public Library Photo Collection (Tessa) contains digital images from the 1850s to the present, documenting all aspects of life in Southern California, with an emphasis on Los Angeles, including the Port and Harbor area.
